The Immigration Department of Zimbabwe has revised the visa fees for citizens of the United States. The new requirements will see US tourists who wish to visit Zimbabwe paying $160 to gain a multiple-entry visa that lasts for a year; this is a significant rise from the previous cost of just $55.
For a single-entry visa that is issued on arrival, the department was previously charging just $30. A double-entry visa cost $45, and a multiple-entry visa cost $55. The new fees follow an agreement between the United States and Zimbabwe to amend the two nations’ visa regimes in order to create more uniformity, according to officials.
At the moment, citizens of Zimbabwe who wish to go to the US as tourists have to pay a $160 non-refundable US visa application fee. However, $160 will also be the cost for US students who are enrolled at institutions of tertiary education and higher learning, which is actually a decrease from the previous student permit fee of as much as $200. Clemence Masango, the principal director of the Immigration Department of Zimbabwe, claims there is nothing improper about the new US visa rates.
Masango says that the United States and Zimbabwe both agreed on the amendments to the visas after bilateral consultations between their governments. On Saturday, US Senators told the country’s ruling party and President Mnangagwa to follow up on recent positive statements regarding reforms with action, which could see sanctions removed entirely
