Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, says that the US is being put at risk by thousands of undocumented criminal immigrants overstaying their US visas and that the immigration plan of Democratic Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton would create “grave peril”. The controversial candidate says that Clinton is the first Presidential candidate in US history to effectively call for an abolishment of the nation’s borders.
The billionaire, real estate mogul made the comments at an event staged by the non-profit group, the Remembrance Project, which advocates for families that have lost loved ones due to undocumented criminal immigrants. Trump says that Clinton wants to provide undocumented immigrants with lifetime entitlements and welfare.
Clinton’s website proposes a plan that would see the implementation of comprehensive immigration reform if she were to win the US Presidency in November. This includes offering a pathway to US citizenship for undocumented immigrants. The plan also calls for the detaining and deporting of violent undocumented criminal immigrants who pose a risk to public safety.
Cracking down on undocumented immigrants has become a cornerstone of Trump’s Presidential campaign. He has repeated that he intends to build a wall on the border between the US and Mexico, forcing Mexico to pay for construction of the wall. Trump says the matter of countries refusing to take back undocumented immigrants came before Clinton when she was Secretary of State, and that she ignored the law requiring her to suspend US visas to uncooperative countries and failed to take forceful action.
