Prominent Indian-Americans are giving their support to the immigration vision of Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump. They note that the mood of the US is increasingly anti-establishment and that the country cannot afford any more ‘bad judgments’ from the Democratic Presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton.
Anand Ahuja, an eminent New York attorney, who is also the Vice President of the Indian-Americans for Trump political action committee, says that the anti-establishment mood is in force all over the world, not just in the US. He added that people are tired of career politicians and want regime change. This mood increases the likelihood of the controversial real estate billionaire winning the White House in next month’s election.
Ahuja also claimed that, while the media likes to project Trump as being anti-immigrant, the Republican candidate is against illegal immigration rather than immigration in general. Ahuja notes that Trump wants to cut down on the period of time that legal immigrants have to wait to be allowed into the US, as well as putting a stop to illegal immigration. Another renowned Indian-American attorney, Rajiv Khanna, echoed Ahuja’s comments. He said that as President, Trump would be great for India, and criticized Clinton as a mediocre politician with bad judgment, who pushed the US into the ill-advised war in Iraq.
Khanna also criticized the way Clinton handled her recent email scandal, as well as her proposal to allow Syrian immigrant refugees to enter the US without undergoing the vetting process.
