New Immigration Attorney Expands Services at Centro Hispano

The immigration services available at Centro Hispano in Columbus recently expanded with the hiring of a new immigration lawyer, Jeremy Roose, who joins the legal team. Roose, a rural capacity building attorney who works at Immigrant Legal Center, says the center helps individuals to reunite with their families and solidify their legal status in the US.

Immigration cases differ from each other, but Roose reaffirms that uniting families is the primary goal. Centro Hispano, Heartland Workers Center, Nebraska Appleseed, and Immigrant Legal Center have teamed up with Justice For Our Neighbors Nebraska to join the Rural Community Inclusion Project, which provides immigration services in several rural communities in the state of Nebraska.

Roose says there are different needs for every community and that he intends to increase his understanding of the local area to make the available services more tailored while noting that the immigrant population in Columbus is driven by its healthy manufacturing industry.

Roose will be offering immigration advice, as well as representing clients in immigration court and at the Department of Homeland Security. He is also currently attempting to get the necessary Nebraska license to be able to represent clients in state courts for divorce, protection, and paternity orders. Other attorneys at Immigration Legal Center are currently available for these services.

Roose says that even professional lawyers find the immigration system of the US complicated and difficult, making it near impossible for those who cannot speak English.
