Figures from indiawest.com show an increase of as much as 56 percent for the number of Bangladeshi immigrants coming to the US during the past six years. A 2016 estimate indicates that there are almost 235,000 Bangladesh immigrants now living in the country.
The report from indiawest.com indicates that the largest increase in immigration percentages came primarily from countries located in South Asia during this time. Mexico saw a growth of negative one percent in immigration to the US during 2016. This was despite often being the target of criticism by President Donald Trump from the moment he began his initial campaign to become President, back in 2015.
According to the report, immigration from Nepal has increased by a staggering 86 percent, with over 129,000 immigrants currently living in the US. The figure is a huge jump from those recorded 27 years ago, back in 1990, where figures show that the country received just 2000 immigrants from Nepal. Over the last six years, there has also been an increase of as much as 28 percent in the number of Pakistanis immigrating to the US, with almost 383,000 coming to the country.
But, the largest number of immigrants coming to the US during the last six years has been from India, with a figure of 654,000, which the report says comes from the report released by the Center for Immigration Studies on 16 October.
