In some states, a Declaration of Intention to become a U.S. citizen is required in order for a new US citizen to conduct business in that state. If you live in such a state and are a business person or entrepreneur, you may need to submit an application for a Declaration of Intention to become a U.S. citizen. You do not need this in every state and this is not mandatory to become a US citizen. If your state has this requirement, you may get your Declaration of Intention to become a U.S. citizen by filing USCIS Form N-300 (Application to File Declaration of Intention). This form must be filed at the USCIS office with jurisdiction over the applicant's place of residence.
