After November 2009, every new employee hired in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) must have their employment authorization verified by their employer. This is done by the employer filing and keeping Form I-9 (CNMI, Employment Eligibility Verification). To fill out the form, the employer will need to confirm employee work authorization. Once the form is filled out, it must be kept and made available upon request to US authorities for either one year after the employee leaves employ or three years after the date of hiring (whichever date comes first). For employers in the US, use form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification), instead.
