Human trafficking is a serious international program. Human traffickers often prey on young persons and on vulnerable people and smuggle them into other countries so that these victims can work for organized crime, often in very inhumane conditions. All developed countries have been combating human trafficking and have been working to provide some relief for victims of this crime. In the US, victims of human trafficking and the immediate family members of such victims can apply for temporary immigration benefits in the US by filing I-914 (Application for T Nonimmigrant Status). Applicants of extreme forms of human trafficking are eligible.
