As per the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA), some immigrants are eligible for suspension of removal or deportation. You may qualify if you are a national of Guatemala or El Salvador or if you were a national of one of the following countries as of the last day of 1991: Latvia, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Estonia, Hungary, Poland, the Soviet Union, Albania, Bulgaria, any republic of the former Soviet Union, Romania, Russia, or any state of the former Yugoslavia. You may also qualify if you are the child or spouse of one of the above nationals. In addition to these eligibility requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements. If you meet all requirements and wish to apply for suspension of removal or deportation under NACARA, you may do so by filing USCIS form I-881 (Application for Suspension of Deportation or Special Rule Cancellation of Removal).
