How to Check Status of Citizenship Application

U.S. naturalization applicants can check on the status of their citizenship application at any time to see where the process stands. The status of the application can be checked online or by phone.

Steps to Check Status of Citizenship Application

To check status online:

1. Find the application receipt number (from N-400 naturalization application).The receipt number will have 13 characters and usually begins with three letters such as EAC, WAC, LIN or SRC. It is printed on all application notices sent by USCIS.
2. Visit the USCIS website and look for the CASE STATUS box on the left of the page.
3. Enter receipt number and click Check Status. Do not include dashes ("-") when entering a receipt number.
4. The application status is displayed.

To check status over phone call:
