Cesar Millan, a famed dog trainer and a television personality, was born on August 27, 1969. He was born in Mexico and crossed the U.S. border without a U.S. visa when he was 21. He obtained his green card in 2000 and U.S. citizenship in 2009. He became popular on TV through his program “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan”.
Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin, the co-founder of Google, the most popular internet search engine, was born on August 21, 1973. He emigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1979 to escape Jewish persecution. He is a Russian American computer scientist and also an entrepreneur. He co-founded Google with Larry Page and they named their search engine “Google” after the mathematical term “googol”.
Steven Shih “Steve” Chen, co-founder of YouTube, a video-sharing website. He immigrated to the U.S. along with his family when he was 15, from Taiwan. This Chinese American internet entrepreneur was born on August 18, 1978.
Tony Ashwin Kanal, the English-born Indian American musician, will celebrate his birthday on August 27. Initially, his parents immigrated to England from India and then they moved to the U.S. when Kanal was 11. Kanal is also a songwriter and a record producer and is best known as the bassist for “No Doubt” an American rock band.
Mother Teresa, a Roman Catholic religious sister, was granted honorary U.S. citizenship in 1996. She was born in Albania on August 26, 1910 and through her Missionaries of Charity she helped several poor and homeless people. She was also granted the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
