The naturalization process includes few different steps from filing applications to taking the Oath of Allegiance. However, only if the applicants complete the first step successfully can they move on to the other steps and finally obtain U.S. citizenship.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Form N-400, Application for Naturalization must be filed by those seeking to become U.S. citizens. USCIS has now published a new Form N-400 dated 12/23/2016 and this is the only edition of the form that will be accepted by USCIS.
This form includes 20 pages and comes along with form instructions. As the new form has been published by USCIS using 2D barcode technology, applicants can complete their forms online. But they cannot file the form online. They need to print the completed form, affix their signature and submit it. They also have an option to complete the form by hand.
After completing their forms, they can ask their friends or relatives to look over their forms in order to ensure that they have completed their forms accurately and that they have not missed out important information.
The naturalization application must be submitted along with two passport-style photos. Applicants must submit a variety of supporting documents in order to show that they are eligible for citizenship status. In certain cases, USCIS might ask them to submit additional information. If required, they will need to submit additional documents.

The N-400 application package must include the supporting documents, form filing fee and the biometric services fee. People seeking exemptions to the civics or the English tests will need to submit Form N-648, Medical Certification for Disability Exceptions along with form N-400.
